Hanson Research to Host USP Dissolution Courses October/November 2016

Hanson selected by USP to host courses on dissolution best practices and validation procedures.

Los Angeles, CA—July 11, 2016—Hanson Research Corporation has been selected to host USP courses on Dissolution Theory and Best Practices, and Validation of Dissolution Procedures at Hanson’s headquarters in Chatsworth, California during the last week of October and first week of November, 2016. The event represents another in a long series of cooperative actions between Hanson and USP.

Dissolution Theory and Best Practices, a two-day, hands-on workshop, will be presented in a laboratory setting on October 31 and November 1. The course augments the classroom lecture found in the USP course on dissolution basics with the objective of developing a more thorough understanding of the fundamentals of dissolution testing. Focusing on methods using Apparatus 1 and 2, the hands-on format has participants conducting dissolution testing under the direct guidance of USP staff. For further details and to register for the course, visit USP Course Dissolution Basics.

Development and Validation of Dissolution Procedures, a two-day course presented on November 2 and 3, brings attendees upto- date on the complete overhaul of USP General Chapter <1092>, as published in USP 38-NF First Supplement (dated 1 August 2015). Building on a basic understanding of the USP’s approach to dissolution, this course provides a foundation for developing and validating dissolution methods for batch release and stability testing, with in vitro performance tests applicable to most dosage forms including tablets, capsules, suspensions, transdermal patches, suppositories, and for development of specifications establishing strength, quality, purity, and bioavailability of drug products. “The Hanson family has always been, and always will be, proud to support the USP in establishing pharmaceutical drug manufacturing quality domestically and abroad,” explained Royal Hanson, Chairman and CEO of Hanson Research. “USP was kind enough to formally recognize the efforts of our founder Dr. William A. Hanson as far back as the brand-generic controversies of 1968, leading to the development of much more reliable dissolution methods and instrumentation. The reputation he established and that we strive to honor and maintain was, in the words of William J. Mader, ‘Bill Hanson was so darned easy to work with.’ This spirit of cooperation within the industry has been at the core of our success ever since.”
